ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) is permitting low and moderate-risk winter sports to be played this season.
That includes bowling, gymnastics, indoor track and field, skiing and swimming and diving.
The season will begin on Nov. 30.
High-risk winter sports, such as basketball, ice hockey and wrestling, are not authorized to resume yet.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo says they'll continue to evaluate the situation.
"The issue right now is as we're seeing the inclines in different parts of the state, we're not inclined to go ahead with opening winter sports at this time," Robert Mujica Director of the New York State Division of the Budget said.
