ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— Here's a follow up to a previous Good Question, and it has to do with the thruway.
If you don't have an E-ZPass, you'll pay more to use the thruway in New York State, starting Friday.
The thruway authority approved a 30% rate increase following the statewide conversion to cashless tolling late last year. Along with the rate hike, there will be a $2 administrative fee per billing statement if the state has to send you a bill through the mail.
Again - this starts Friday, and it only applies to drivers without an E-ZPass.
However, out of state tag holders have to pay 15% more.
If you have an E-ZPass, you do not have to worry about the increase.
